Happy Birthday to Moi!

Actually, I celebrated my birthday yesterday. A few close friends and my family were in attendance. These are the moments I treasure in my life. We enjoyed lots of great appetizers, delicious food, and my favorite:
DOMINICAN CAKE. I'm very territorial when it comes to my cake. It's so good!

My face says it all " Do I really need to cut my cake and share it?"

I'm so grateful to God for allowing me to live and celebrate another year!

I can't believe it's almost back to school for the kids.

So long, SCHOOL...Hello, SUMMER!

Another successful school year under our belts. I can't believe my oldest is going into 10th grade, the middle boy to 7th, and my little guy to 2nd grade. WOW!!. Anyway, a few days ago, I told a couple of my friends that it would be nice to surprise all our kids with an end-of-school BBQ/Sundae/Pool Party, when they returned home from school on the last day, and that's exactly what we did. I've seen many welcome to Summer banners in blog land, so one for our party was made by my daughter, she did a good job, and the kids loved running through it when they got home.

I didn't take a picture when the kids ran through the banner because I was videotaping.

Even though it was cloudy, it was still warm enough for the kids to go in the pool. We had hot dogs, hamburgers, and sausages with onions and peppers.

They swam, played tag, basketball, chased each other around the house, they had a great time!

We had planned on having our sundaes inside, but it was cool enough to have it outside, they kids and adults alike enjoyed making their sundaes however they wanted, it was good. The ice cream choices were chocolate, vanilla, and neopolitan. For the toppings the choices were: crushed oreo cookies, chocolate syrup, apple cinnamon topping, rainbow sprinkles, and whipped cream. YUMMY!

We had a very nice end-of-school party.

See you soon!

Fluffing The Nest

I'm always looking for ways to freshen up the look in our home. Thank goodness I'm married to a man that allows me to do pretty much whatever I want to. I ask for his input, of course!. I've been toiling with the idea of redecorating for a while, I went to Lowe's, and to Home Depot, and to Sherwin Williams, to get paint chips. I went back and forth between  aqua and neutral (beige). At this point, since our children are still pretty young, I felt aqua would be a bit more playful  to decorate with. I want our house to feel inviting and fun, and I love cottage style decorating, so it felt right. I'm still not done, but I'm loving how it's turning out.

A couple of before pictures:

During:

I used Valspar "Aqua Glow" and "Betsy's Linen" for the stripes.

After:

I  copied the picture ledge from suburbsmama  As soon as I saw hers, I knew it would work for us. This will allow me to change things with the different holidays and seasons.

The green is Lemon Mint (Olympic). The paints' sheen are satin. I bought them at Lowe's.

I hope you like what I've done so far, I want to find a nice fabric for the window treatments, and for the dining room chairs. I'll post pictures again when I do so.

Thanks for visiting, and have fun in your homes!

Happy Valentine's Day

We had a brunch this past Sunday to celebrate with some of our friends, neighbors, and family members. I love to get together, and have fun with the people in our lives. I also love to decorate for most holidays and Valentine's is one of my favorite ones to do so. I look at different blogs, and Pinterest for ideas, and for free printables( this has become one of my favorite things to do online). I'm grateful to the talented people who share their creations with us, a big  I HEART U! to all of you. So, here are a few photos, may you have a fabulous Valentine's Day, enjoy!

I made pipe cleaner and Hershey's kisses rings for all the ladies. This idea came from this month's issue of
Family Fun magazine, they are very easy to make, and we had a ball wearing them.

My Superman

We also wrote valentine's to each other, and I put them in two small mailboxes I bought at Target.

Even though it was freezing out, we ventured outside to take a group picture:

Thanks for visiting, and have a Happy Valentine's Day!
